shorts
Thinking about the holiday season and what shorts to wear, this year we are seeing a lot more cleaner lines and smarter tailored shorts. I always take a few pairs but then I pick up something like the Ralph Lauren Swim Short, a bit smart casual in, out of the pool and end up wearing them more then ever. Make sure you just say no to cargo shorts, bermuda and 3/4 lengths .

PRETTY GREEN
Pretty Green
Named after a song by The Jam, Liam Gallagher’s ‘Pretty Green’ label may be less than a year old but it’s already making a big impact in men’s fashion.
Designed by the singer in tandem with Nick Holland from Holland Esquire, the label fully rejects the ‘skinny jeans’look in favour of a classic aesthetic reflecting Liam’s style (and of course that of his fans).
Pretty Green is an entirely limited edition collection comprising denim, knitwear, t-shirts, outerwear, footwear and accessories. As Liam himself says, “Clothes and music are my passion. I'm not here to rip anyone off and I'm not doing it for the money either. I'm doing it cuz there's a lack of stuff out there of the things I would wear.”
The simplicity of this mission is translated into the designs; it’s not about fashion, it’s about making top quality clothes that look great and have a timeless appeal.

Luke
Luke 1977 was the son of a talented wedding dress maker and throughout his childhood was constantly exposed to cutting, sewing, altering & pattern drafting of clothes at his Walsall home.
With all of this going on around him it’s no surprise that by the age of twelve he was already adept at using a sewing machine and he soon became interested in the whole process of the production of garments & clothing and began to develop his skills.
Throughout his school years he continued to experiment with the design and construction of garments & clothes and by the age of 15 he had started making shirts for his friends. Within a few months he had developed his burgeoning ability to incorporate trousers too.
On leaving school Luke 1977 enrolled in a fashion and textiles course at his local Walsall College. It was around this time that he and his friends were beginning to go out to the local pubs and house-clubs which created an increasing demand from others for his shirts, trousers & clothing. Garments that were stylish and individual but still perceived as being ‘masculine’.
In 1997 Luke earned a place at Central Saint Martins College of Fashion in London where he began a 3-year specialist menswear design degree. He soon became well known for his edgy, detailed but ultimately practical designs, pieces which often incorporated his trade mark quirky sense of humour. During the 3 year period he attended Saint Martins he became fascinated by traditional tailoring techniques which inspired him to begin making suits. Now there was a real following for his creations from a variety of people from friends and colleagues to well known celebrities.
Upon his graduation Luke 1977 took the position of junior designer with a major brand in order to hone his skills and develop a deeper understanding of the industry, setting down the ground work for starting his own label. He had set himself a target of 3 years work experience but in May 2001, after only six months, he began the collaboration with his life long friends, Simon & Deborah Poole which saw the creation of the Luke 1977 clothing label. Luke 1977 is now recognised as one of the coolest clothes brands for young males to be seen in, whether its at the match or in the pub many British lads are wearing jackets, jumpers, shirts, polo shirts with the now famous Luke 1977 lion logo on them.

Racing - Tweed or Barbour
Horse racing is becoming the place for all the fashionistas, it use to be just the Ladies who would dress up but times are changing. I have heard that in the next year they will be judging mens attire at the larger race meetings like Ascot and The Cheltenham Gold Cup. So now is your time to step up, the question being for this weekend is Barbour or Tweed?

Paul Smith Jeans and the inspiration to the collection
Autumn Winter 2011 Paul Smith Jeans sees a collection inspired by the 1970’s music scene in Berlin, when David Bowie was working with Eno and Iggy Pop and drawing influence from the eclectic and experimental styles of German musicians.

Chunky Knitwear - which one?
The weather is changing and it's all about the chunky jumper. We have got a great plethra on offer. The shawl neck and fairisle looking ever so popular this year, we will see strong colours in all the V-necks but watch out for crew necks making way. Barbour bringing unique touches to there knitwear and using a super soft wool....Mix this with the Gant heavy Brushed cotton Jean in Brown or Navy and a nice soft check shirt from Hackett using the finest italian cotton.
It's all about Looking Good Not Average!
